A little late popping up the post in all our haste to get NZDH Round 1 underway!!
Just before the race we had the first Descend Junior Coaching day for the year. (Yes, we are planning more!!!)
It was great to have 7 u15 riders getting ready for the race this weekend at Rotorua. Louis and Connor Hamilton did a superb job on bike setup, safety gear and answer any questions. Mark Ross ran through the basic rules and how a race day will unfold. Ashley Bond was also in full support, especially good for the two girls to have Ashley there.
This seems to have led to a decent number of u15 riders for the race. Brook, Sam Blenkinsop and Louis also gave out tips at the race to u15 & u17 riders, while there to race as well.
We are currently planning another training day at 440 before the race there.
What a great turn out for the first round of the NZDH series! The weather played ball and the track was absolutely awesome.
We will have more info and photos to come but for now…. See HERE for the results.
It’s worth mentioning that in the 12th hour we managed to find enough marshals to actually be able to start racing. Thank you to those that did give their time and support. Its very disappointing to see that very few parents and supporters are willing to step in and help out to make these events happen. Hopefully in the future, we see a few more people make an effort to assist the club in volunteering – because without this there won’t be any riding!!

Descend junior coaching session the week prior to nzdh1.
Descend are offering 3 hours Dh coaching by local rider Louis and Connor Hamilton. This is not do much a skills based lesson, but more of a foundation to build upon.
